The town of Irkutsk and Listvyanka Village.
Tour Description:
Your tour begins in Irkutsk- one of the oldest and most attractive Siberian
cities. Irkutsk is famous for it’s wooden architecture. The city of Irkutsk
has preserved many of monuments including ancient log structures.
This tour also combines touring the highlights of Baikal Lake area: the most
popular place - Listvyanka village, which lies 70 km from Irkutsk on the
shore of lake Baikal. Here the water ferry through the Angara mouth takes us
to Port Baikal from where we visit the legendary Circum Baikal Railroad. The
tour enables a visitor to feel the nature, live just next to Baikal lake,
and enjoy magnificient views and new places as well as get acquainted with
regional cultural attractions.
Itinerary:
Day 1
Arrival in Irkutsk, transfer to the hotel
City overview excursion
Walking in the city downtown, museum of local lore.
Day 2
Breakfast, transfer to Listvyanka village
Visit the Taltsy Museum of Wooden Architecture on our way from Irkutsk to
Listvyanka to see some interesting samples of old wooden houses which were
brought there from all over Siberia.
In Listvyanka visit the Limnological Museum (or Museum of Baikal), where you
can learn about flora and fauna of the lake and see some unique species in
aquarium. Accommodation in the hotel.
Day 3
Breakfast, boat ride 3 hours with a stop at the Port Baikal. Walking
excursion to the Circum-Baikal Railway. It was built more than a hundred
years ago, and is an outstanding landmark to the construction and
engineering art. There are a lot of beautifully constructed tunnels and
bridges along the way, making Circum-Baikal a huge monument. Boat trip back
to Listvyanka.
Transfer to Irkutsk. Accommodation.
Day 4
Transfer to the airport. End of services
